B TROOPER DOWN BUT NOT OUT

For your information and encouragements

On Friday, 8 December, Derryl Jones, Saber One Nine, (Aug 69 to Mar 70) suffered a major heart attack. He is in the hospital in Traverse City, MI after a quadruple bypass. Derryl also has high blood pressure, diabetes and at this time, possibly pneumonia.

For those who remember him from the troop, Derryl was a hell of a good pilot, a large man with a soft touch on the controls. He was shot down on several occasions. He was medevaced from the troop after a rocket attack one night in which he was severely injured, the artery in his neck was severed by shrapnel.

Derryl also flew a few missions with the old UH-1C gunship for B Troop. He quickly became a proficient pilot for this beast under the direction of Gary Thomas.

Anyone wishing to send a card, send to:    Derryl Jones, 14677 King Road, Thompsonville, MI 49683. I know he would appreciate hearing from the men he flew with, admired and respected.

From your Web Administrator: Let's all keep Derryl & his family in our prayers!
